To start out, follow fashion and beauty editors you like and admire and leave thoughtful comments on their Instagram posts and re-tweet stories they’ve written and tag them.

  • Do not make pitches that will sound like you are asking for somekind of favour, instead create a pitch that will favour the publisher.

  • A branded content – also called sponsor article – in Entrepreneur has a very similar look to a standard post published in other sections of the site.

Magazines often write articles about common problems and propose product solutions. They also sometimes do product reviews, tests and giveaways. Try contacting the editor in charge of the department most relevant to your product. Beauty products, for example, are best Get featured in publications suited for the beauty editor.

The biggest thing to remember is to learn to tell a great story. Clayton suggests you find 10 writers you want to be featured by. On their most recent story, email them and thank them for writing the piece and tell them specifically what you learned from it. On their next piece, do the same thing, but add that there are a few other points that you learned. You can pitch them via the services above or to your own local publications.
